Launch of Early Detection Prostate Cancer Initiative
The public is invited to the Walden Galleria Mall Saturday, Sept. 5, & Sunday, Sept. 6, for the “Aim For a Cure” event. The event marks the beginning of the Prostate Club for Men, created to increase early detection of prostate cancer and heightened awareness of the disease.
All are invited to stop by the mall to learn more about the program and how to be proactive in detecting prostate cancer at an early stage, when it’s easiest to treat. Men will be able to register for the Prostate Club beginning that weekend.
The event will take place by Lord & Taylor, with easiest access from the mall entrance between Macy’s and Lord & Taylor, at the thruway side of the Walden Galleria Mall. The mall is located at One Walden Galleria, Buffalo, NY, 14225. The event will run during mall hours, which are 10 am - 9:30 pm, Saturday, and 10 am - 7 pm, Sunday.
The Prostate Club for Men is co-sponsored by WGRZ-TV Channel 2, BlueCross BlueShield of Western New York, the Prostate Cancer Center at Roswell Park Cancer Institute and WBEN Radio, 930 AM.
Other highlights of the event include:
- Interactive demonstrations of the da Vinci® Surgical System, a surgical robotic system used at Roswell Park since 2004 to perform over 700 prostate surgeries. Roswell Park surgeons will be on hand throughout the weekend to answer questions.
- Various talks on the latest in cancer treatment and tomorrow’s hopeful cures.
- Visit with members of local advocacy groups: Women Against Prostate Cancer and Us TOO, as well as professionals from Roswell Park, BlueCross Blue Shield of Western New York, WGRZ-TV and WBEN Radio, 930 AM.
- Play the prostate cancer quiz game and win prizes
- Sabretooth, the Buffalo Sabres mascot, will be on hand Saturday, Sept. 5. Bring your kids for a photo!
